Customer Service Job Search Tips

Be prepared to spend some time looking for a customer service job. If you follow these steps, your search will be shorter and easier.

1. Prepare your resume. Have both an online version that you can quickly upload to a job site and paper copies for onsite interviews.

2. Plan time every day to examine online job boards and local listings. Remember to search for different terms for the job, such as "customer service" and "customer support."

3. When you see a possible job, immediately send your resume or fill out the application.

4. Also check for job fairs in your area. Many times they will have employers who are looking for customer service reps.

5. Talk to anyone you know, and tell them what kind of job you are seeking.

6. Call temporary staffing agencies to see if they have listings for customer service jobs. If they do, go in and be prepared to take a typing or basic skills test before you sign up with their service.

7. Follow up on any resumes you sent with a phone call or email.
